Chugai Pharmaceutical Adopts metis ami Cloud Application Company-wide to Auto-Coordinate Meetings -Reduces Time Spent on Meeting Coordination by about 20,000 Hours and Promotes Work Style Reform-

Japan Business Systems, Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Yukihiro Makita, President; hereinafter “JBS”) announces the company-wide adoption of one-stop meeting schedule coordination application metis ami (hereinafter “metis ami”), a JBS original cloud application to automate the work for coordinating meetings and realize efficiency, by Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Tatsuro Kosaka, President & CEO).

According to the “survey on the situation of time labor (first and second survey),” * loss due to unproductive meetings at companies with 10,000 employees or more accounts for 1.5 billion yen annually. The time spent on internal meetings in a year is 301.2 hours at the assistant manager level, and 434.5 hours at the department manager level. In spite of this, about a quarter of people feel that there are too many unproductive meetings. The most often cited reason for an unproductive meeting is that nothing is decided even when the meeting is held, with the second most often cited reason being that the meeting end time gets extended, followed by the third reason that meetings are held for trivial agenda items. Many companies recognize inefficient meetings as a challenge to be tackled.

According to estimates at the time of Chugai Pharmaceutical’s adoption of metis ami, it was revealed that about 73,000 hours were spent in preparing for meetings every year. Additionally, the more participants there were, the longer it took to coordinate meetings and it became clear that meetings with many participants did not necessarily contribute to productivity. Based on this, the company-wide adoption of metis ami was decided in the hope of reducing unproductive work by streamlining meeting room operation. In the pilot introduction of metis ami, 76 percent of the target users responded that “metis ami reduced the time spent on coordinating meetings.” The effect of adopting metis ami is estimated to be about 20,000 hours annually.
